Marine perfums

Marine Fragrance

The bracing freshness of the seaside and sea spray.

Very slightly spicy facets that can be emphasized.

The Eau de Parfum Marine offers this feeling of freshness of the seaside, invigorating, a little iodized, that you find with this creation of Isabelle Ferrand for Candora. But be careful! We all have in mind our own memories of seaside scents. Here, it is a Breton sea, not a Mediterranean coast…

Description

A chance discovery

Finding this natural inspiration is made possible by a molecule marketed by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer under the name of Calone in 1966. Indeed, after a few years of unsuccessful medical research, it turned out that the main interest of this molecule was… its smell reminiscent of spoondrift, with a notable ozone note. It will allow perfumers to decline at will creations tinged with this aquatic freshness: from Cool Water by Davidoff to Issey Myake’s Eau d’Issey.

A perfume without gender ?

Since the second half of the 20th century, most European Houses have differentiated their creations by offering woody notes for men and flowery for women… Isn’t that a bit of a caricature? Are they the same ones who decided that blue would be reserved for boys and pink for girls?

The arrival of the Calone allowed to get out of this dichotomy with the launch in 1994 of CK One which claimed to be able to be carried by both women and men.

In recent years, however, many Maison have chosen to add the Calone in the “sport” version of men’s fragrances – which would tend to lead it to an unfortunate perception of men’s perfume.
